9th kyu
For students under age 16, 9th kyu is subdivided into 4 stages: “d”, “c”, “b”, and “full” kyu, with graduated requirements as shown below. This helps ensure that students have a positive testing experience, making progress without having to learn everything all at once.
Students aged 16+ always test against the “Full Kyu” requirements below. For these students, 9th kyu is divided into 2 stages: “b” and “full” kyu, though both wear the same belt.
