Teaching my regular classes at the Ross Farnsworth - East Valley YMCA.

Tonight I gave out the results of last week’s rank exams. The youth & family class has new orange and yellow belts while the adult class has two new blue belts and a new purple belt. Great job everyone!

In other news, I’ve gotten four new students in the past two weeks! The adult class had ten people on the floor, which isn’t a record, but it’s above average, and really helpful when it comes to giving students the chance to practice against partners of different sizes, shapes, and speeds.

We also spent some time introducing the new 5th kyu to Heian Godan. Yep, just when you thought you’d figured out how to move one foot at a time, along comes a kata with a jump and some awkward two-footed pivots! Hooray!
