PED101KA - Karate

This course introduces students to the physical, mental, and academic fundamentals of karate, which include physical training, the history and culture of karate, self-protection, and character development. The class assumes no background with karate but will accommodate and challenge students of all experience levels.

This class teaches the Shotokan style of karate. Shotokan is a Japanese style of karate, built on older, Okinawan roots. It focuses on punching, kicking, striking, and blocking skills, but also incorporates throwing and joint locking techniques.
